Chapter 1 - Los Angeles County

Pipeline/Utilities Chair

I, Gary Valentine, MAI, ASA, SR/WA, am the Chairman of the Pipeline Committee, a certified general appraiser in California, an MAI designated member of the Appraisal Institute, an accredited senior appraiser, real property/urban, of the American Society of Appraisers, and a senior member of the International Right of Way Association.  I served as Treasurer in 1993, Secretary in 1994, President-Elect in 1995, and President in 1996 of the International Right of Way Association, Chapter 1, Los Angeles, and I have since been on several committees in the local Chapter and have been on the Board continuously since 1993.  My experience includes appraising real estate and closely-held businesses since 1983 and includes reviewing and appraising residential, commercial, industrial, agricultural, transportation corridors, and other special use properties throughout the United States and in Mexico. I am sole owner of Valentine Appraisal & Associates.  Prior experience includes ten years of being owner of a Valentine Appraisal & Associates, four years with Marshall and Stevens in Los Angeles, the second largest appraisal firm in the Country, five years with Southern Pacific Transportation Company appraisal departments in San Francisco and Los Angeles, and two years with a private valuation firm in Fresno, California. I hold a B.S. degree in Business Management from BYU and have completed numerous courses and seminars sponsored by the American Society of Appraisers, the Appraisal Institute, and by the International Right of Way Association, and I teach appraisal courses at COC, a local junior college.  I enjoy serving the members of the IRWA, and if anybody is interested in being on the Pipeline Committee, I would very much welcome them aboard.
